About The Ramble

Close to downtown Chilliwack, Ryder Lake is a historic farming community nestled in a sub-alpine valley in the Cascade Mountain range.  The tiny picturesque hamlet is encircled by breathtaking snow topped mountains – Elk Mountain, Slessee Mountain, Mount Maguire, Church Mountain and Mount Thom; to name a few.  The first Ryder Lake Ramble was held in 1998 to highlight the spectacular beauty and charm of one of the most precious jewels in the crown of the Fraser Valley.   It has been one of the most popular local events ever since, with often, over 1000 people attending each year.  Many return visitors kick off the start of their summer season, by attending the annual Ryder Lake Ramble.

The members of the Ryder Lake Community would like to welcome you to this year’s Ryder Lake Ramble.  Please come and join us in a self-guided tour of farms with unusual animals, magnificent and unique gardens, peaceful woodland trails, panoramic vistas, the famous Ryder Lake Ramble Plant Sale, and  much more.

The Ramble is an immensely popular event and has become an exciting showcase for agricultural tourism in Canada.  Many rural communities in BC and Alberta are now using the Ryder Lake Ramble as a template to start their own

The Ryder Lake Ramble is operated by the Ryder Lake Farmers’ Institute and funds raised are used to maintain the Ryder Lake Hall.  The Hall is the community’s meeting place for Ryder Lakers, and it is the heart beat of Ryder Lake.  Our Hall is also available for private rental, an ideal wedding location or peaceful venue for a events or memorial services.
